Episode 75 – Cultivating a Mindset for Health

Our mindset is often times referred to our perception toward things in our life, or “the stories we tell ourselves.”  While it may seem subtle and unconscious to some, we do have control over our mindset. The trick is to have enough awareness about your beliefs, and perceptions to know what impact your mindset might be having on the quality of your health. When we change our mindset, we lay new neural pathways in your brain which releases the old default system.

The trick is to have enough awareness about your beliefs, and perceptions to know what impact your mindset might be having on the quality of your health.

Health Mindset Tip #1 – Aim For Balance

By aiming for balance, you essentially avoid the extremes in matters of health and wellness. You know the saying “everything’s good in moderation”? Well, this is what I’m talking about…and this balanced healthy mindset can support you to make healthy choices during those weak moments where you really feel like indulging. Avoid the extremes at all cost. As well, try to exercise everyday mindfulness around how you’re thinking and feeling during those weak moments. A few deep breaths can keep you from making some harmful choices. Then concentrate on taking a balanced approach. If you have kids, try to encourage these same habits and health mindsets in the home. This cultivates experimentation, and open dialogue in the family, which supports everyone’s personal growth during times of change.

Health Mindset Tip #2 – Use Your Imagination

You can develop your health mindset through the powers of your imagination. Imagination influences reality more than we think, While most people believe that your imagination is just a lazy few minutes of daydreaming, when using your imagination strategically, you can change your health and your life. However, this requires a bit of skill development. planning and engaged focus. The trick to using your imagination for dreaming about better health, and to set the intention for obtaining different health results. Sit down in a quiet place and image yourself taking part in a healthier way of life. Concentrate on how you look and add more details to your mindful adventure. Go along and start to add some feelings to your daydreaming. Might you start to imagine yourself being more like the person you’d like to be? Can you imagine taking the next step towards improving one thing in your life, for a healthier mindset? What’s the story are you telling yourself now? Concluding thoughts:

Although sometimes we face ill-health and require medical intervention. There’s a place for all types of modalities when it comes to your health. Try not to allow negativity to get in the way of supporting your recovery. This is your “mindset”. Try to observe your thoughts, and what might be precipitating your current state of wellness, or ill-health. Then use your imagination and let your mind wander to more supportive thoughts and beliefs. None of this is easy, but cultivating a mindset for improved health doesn’t have to be difficult either.
