I’ve tried everything lately to keep my head above water and stay sane, and some days it seems like nothing works. I always have my meditation practice to support me, but sometimes that is a difficult task. What else can you do?
After conducting extensive research, I’ve come to the conclusion that staying grounded may not be as difficult as we once thought. With the assistance of my personal experience (and a few therapeutic professionals), I’ve come up with five solid tips for staying grounded in life. So, if you’re like me, struggling to stay grounded in a chaotic and seemingly careless world, I believe you’ve arrived at the right place.
What does it mean to be grounded?
To be grounded means to have a sense of stability and sensibility in all things, especially our thoughts and emotions. A grounded person is described as “down to earth” by Westerners, and eastern philosophies frequently use the practice of mindfulness to achieve this state, but what does it all really mean?
Being grounded, in my experience, involves being:
>> Peacefully present in the moment.
>> Completely aware of ourselves.
>> Not easily swayed by external (or internal) stressors.
However, while staying grounded sounds simple, it is not always easy to achieve, at least not without the right tools. Life most often interferes with our ability to remain grounded, mindful, and present. Stressors can include our jobs, friends, families, and even our own thoughts, which can make it difficult to achieve peace of mind.
5 Strategies To Stay Grounded
Once you’ve decided to stay grounded, it’s time to start taking action. Here are some strategies to try out:
1. Prayer and meditation
Prayer and meditation are powerful tools and can help you to connect with your spiritual self. Spend some time each day in prayer and meditation. By simply focusing on your breath, you can clear your mind, and set a solid intention for the day. 2. Incorporate physical activity
Physical activities such as yoga, pilates, and jogging to name a few can be a great way to help reduce stress and anxiety, and it can also be a great way to practice everyday mindfulness. If all you can fit-in is taking the stairs while at work, instead of the elevator, you’ve done a great job at shifting your energy and getting more grounded.
3. Explore the spiritual benefits of nature
Nature can be a powerful source of spiritual energy and it can help to guide you back to where you need to be, and raise your vibrations (episode 68). Take some time to explore the natural world around you. Spend time outdoors, take a walk in the woods, or find a quiet spot to sit and meditate. Either way, nature provides a host of benefits to the mind and body and can help you to set intentions to be more grounded.
4. Seek-out spiritual guidance
If you’re struggling to connect with your spiritual self, there are a number of spiritual health services that can help. From one-on-one mindfulness coaching to spiritual counselling and various wellness retreats, there are a number of options available to help you on your spiritual journey.
5. Align with your true purpose in life
Living in accordance with your life purpose and highest potential includes being true to yourself and making decisions that are consistent with your core values. It’s about believing that life has a plan for you and that you will be guided in the right direction. It’s about being courageous and taking the necessary steps to make your dreams a reality.
Keeping yourself grounded during difficult times is an important way to maintain overall well-being, and it is a worthwhile journey! Discovering the path to greater spirituality and healing can be a difficult but rewarding journey, and it can have a significant impact on your overall well-being. You can unlock your spiritual potential and become your best self by exploring the benefits of meditation, spiritual healing, and mindfulness, as well as incorporating physical activities into your spiritual journey.
