What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique that is used to relieve stress, improve relaxation and promote healing. It’s administered by laying hands over a person’s body, and is based on the idea that a universal “life force energy” flows through us all, and this is the essence of what causes us to be alive. Rei means “higher power” and Ki means “life force energy”. Reiki is “spiritually guided life force energy”. Reiki healing is energetic healing much like Therapeutic Touch, which I learned as a nursing student from one of my professors.
How Does Reiki Work?
While Reiki has some roots in spirituality, it is not a religion. Reiki healings mainly works through the power of intention. You do not require a certain belief to experience the beneficial effects of this energy work. By simply getting in touch with own body rhythms, and accepting your responsibility and power for self-healing, Reiki healing energies can have lasting results. Reiki is a way for you to clear the clutter in your life, and your consciousness.
Where does Reiki Come From?
It’s Japanese in origin. All Western Reiki practitioners have a lineage going back through Mrs Takata – in Japan. Mrs Takata brought Reiki to the West, from Japan. The word “Reiki”, as we know it today, is finally recognized outside Japan, because of Mrs Takata. She was a powerful healer and taught it for over forty years. She facilitated many healings, and attuned countless numbers of people.
As a Reiki Master Practitioner, I have a commitment to my clients to help them realize that healing the spirit is a unique component to my 10-session Reiki program. As a coach, I also engage clients in a forward-thinking, action-oriented manner, to move beyond their unpleasant situations.
